PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrofitted hold-down fastener which also places great importance on functionality so that a deterioration in the beauty of a building can be prevented by using a rain gutter (downpipe) attached to a corner section of the building, and so that construction can be performed by an existing mounting method. SOLUTION: In this construction method, the existing rain gutter (downpipe) is used to ease a sense of retrofitting. The downpipe is mounted at the corner section of the building. The downpipe is contained in a steel pipe with an inside diameter slightly larger than an outside diameter of the downpipe; and a bracket is welded to the steel pipe, and firmly connected to each of a column and a foundation from an exterior wall surface. The deterioration of the beauty of the building is prevented by coating the steel pipe in color similar to that of the downpipe, and equivalent strength is secured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
