<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver and a receiving method which calculates a weight matrix suited to a path model without enlarging a circuit scale required for calculating the weight matrix. <P>SOLUTION: The receiver 100 obtains individual channel estimates and path delays of a multi-path from received known signals, and calculates a weight matrix for equalizing the multi-path based on the channel estimates and the path delays, thereby being equalized at a chip level. An equalizing information determining unit 102 determines an over-sampling number, sampling timing, and an equalizing window width used in an equalizing means based on the channel estimates and the path delays. A weight calculator 106 calculates the weight matrix based on the determined over-sampling number and the equalizing window width.
