<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collateral ventilation bypass trap system to be used for treating one aspect of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. <P>SOLUTION: The collateral ventilation bypass trap system 100 directly linked with a patient's lung or lungs may be utilized to increase the expiratory flow from the diseased lung 108 or lungs, thereby treating one aspect of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The system includes a trap 102, a filter/one-way valve 106 and an air carrying conduit 104.
