PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has higher outer combination efficiency. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element is composed of a base plate 210, a metal electrode layer 220, an organic luminous layer 230, a transparent electrode layer 240, a protective layer 250 and a lens 260. The metal electrode layer 220 is positioned on the base plate 210 and the organic luminous layer 230 is positioned on the metal electrode layer 220. The transparent electrode layer 240 is positioned on the organic luminous layer 230 and the protective layer 250 is positioned on the transparent electrode layer 240 and furthermore, the lens 260 is positioned on the protective layer 250. The lens 260 has an upper surface 262 and a bottom surface 264 opposing the above upper surface 262, and a plurality of combining surfaces combined between the upper surface 262 and the bottom surface 264. The plurality of these combining surfaces form discontinuing surfaces. Furthermore, the plurality of these combining surfaces are inclined and an angle between the bottom surface 264 and a combining surface nearer the bottom surface 264 becomes wider.
