PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image conversion panel which uses stimulable phosphors and improves both in physical durability and in luminance and a method for manufacturing the panel. SOLUTION: The radiation image conversion panel which has a stimulable phosphor layer on a support is characterized in that the stimulable phosphor layer is formed by a vapor phase epitaxial method and in that the stress intensity factor K<SB>Ic</SB>is between 0.3 (MPa m<SP>1/2</SP>) and 60 (MPa m<SP>1/2</SP>) inclusive.
