PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and inexpensive electromotive vertical mold clamping device considering a belt breakage measure. SOLUTION: The recessed part 32 opened above a pressure receiving plate 16 is formed, a ball screw shaft 20 and a pair of guide bars 33 and 33 are vertically provided to the recessed part 32, a ball nut 34 is screwed in the ball screw shaft 20, a crosshead 35 is attached to the ball nut 34, the flange parts 36 and 36 extended from the crosshead 35 are fitted to the guide bars 33 and 33, the upper ends of the guide bars 33 and 33 and the upper part of the ball screw shaft 20 are supported by a gate-shaped bracket 18 and a brake means 40 is directly provided to the upper end of the ball screw shaft 20. Since the brake means 40 for preventing the rotation of the ball screw shaft is provided to the ball screw shaft, the brake means can be arranged above the belt. Further, the number of parts can be reduced by directly providing the brake means to the ball screw shaft and the mold clamping device can be reduced in cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
