PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel body of a spinning reel, designed to minimally expose screw elements for attaching a covering part thereto while seeking to improve the spinning reel's assembly efficiency. SOLUTION: The reel body 2 comprises a casing part 10, the covering part 11, an attaching leg 12 and a joining member 13. In this reel body 2, the casing part 10 is housed with a rotation transmission mechanism for making a rotary drive of a rotor and an oscillating mechanism for moving a spool back and forth and comprises a main body 20 provided with a mechanism-housing space 20a with its flank opened, a cylindrical part 22 in the front of the main body 20 and a first locking part 24 on the front outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical part. The covering part 11 comprises an engagement part 26 to be engaged, behind the first locking part, on the casing part 10 and a covering part 25 formed integratedly with the engagement part and covering the mechanism-housing space. The joining member 13 comprises a second locking part 13c locked on the cylindrical part through engaging on the first locking part and a pressing part 13e pressing the engagement part from the outer circumferential side toward the casing part, being a member for joining the covering part 11 to the casing part 10.
