Provided is a playback device capable of switching the input of a TV automatically into an output from a broadcast receiving device such as an STB. A TV (131) switches, in response to a notification command or a command for notifying the start of outputting an image or voice, its input into the output of the notification command from a transmission source device. The STB (151) transmits, in response to an instruction command or a command for instructing the start of outputting the image or voice, the notification command to the TV (131). A DVD recorder (101) comprises a decoder (106) for playing back the image or voice recorded in a DVD-RAM disk (111), a data output I/F (109) for outputting the played image or voice to the TV (131), and a command transmission/reception I/F (110) for transmitting the instruction command to the STB (151) when the outputting of the played image or voice ends.
