An antenna is provided to improve standing wave ratio in a usage bandwidth by moving a resonant frequency to a lower band by a wavelength shortening effect obtained from a magnetic body having dielectric characteristics and magnetic characteristics together. In an antenna receiving radio waves of a desired frequency band, a radiator conductor and a ground conductor resonate at a resonant frequency. A feeding part supplies air to the radiator conductor. A wavelength shortening unit arranges a magnetic body having dielectric characteristics and magnetic characteristics together closely to the radiator body, and moves the resonant frequency to a band lower than the desired frequency band by a wavelength shortening effect obtained on the ground of the dielectric characteristics and the magnetic characteristics. A magnetic field applying unit(13) reduces magnetic loss due to the magnetic body, by applying a magnetic field to the magnetic body.
