The present invention relates to a polyester resin for toner wherein the polyester resin is obtained through polymerization in the presence of 0.1-8 wt% of a release agent ingredient comprising an alcohol component, comprises a tri- or higher polyvalent carboxylic acid component and/or a tri- or higher polyhydric alcohol component at 0.1-30 mole percent based on the total acid component, and has a softening temperature of 100-160°C, an acid value of 0.1-30 mgKOH/g and a glass transition temperature of 40-70°C.
