PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive system for an electric vehicle capable of stabilizing voltages of a feeder and a cable and reducing losses thereof, and also reducing the cost of equipment. SOLUTION: A motor 4 is driven by AC power fed from the cable 1 and converted by a motor-drive converter 3, and a large-capacity capacitor 5 is connected in parallel with the motor-drive converter 3 relative to the cable 1 while making the electric vehicle travel by a driving force of the motor. Power in power running of the electric vehicle I is mainly fed from the large- capacity capacitor 5, and regenerative power in regenerative braking is stored in the large-capacity capacitor 5, thus reducing the amount of power fed to the electric vehicle I from the cable 1 and the amount of power regenerated to the cable 1 from the electric vehicle I. |
