Light emitting diode and method for manufacturing the same

A light emitting diode (LED) includes an LED element (14), a fluorescent material provided so as to cover the LED element, a substrate (11) on which the LED element is mounted and made of ceramics or silicon, and a pair of electrode pads (12,13,31,32,41,42) which are provided on the substrate and electrically connected to the LED element. A method of manufacturing the same is also disclosed.
