Game-playing apparatus comprises a device (10) for playing an optical data-storage disc, an optical data-storage disc (16) authored to provide an interactive game and at least two handsets (18, 20) for remotely controlling the operation of the playing device (10) to play the same. The handsets (18, 20) are configured so that different menu navigation buttons are mimicked by corresponding buttons (X, T, F) of the handsets (18, 20). The disc is authored such that players are presented with a menu having respective on screen menu buttons arranged to be selected by pressing each of said corresponding handset buttons (X, T, F) and such that a respective action associated with each of the menu buttons is automatically invoked. Signals may be transmitted via infra red, may comprise more than one command in sequence by way of a macro, and may be such that a game player can be identified from the signal. The game may be based on a television show style quiz. |
