<p>The roller has a roller shell containing a base shell that is made of weldable steel. A welding layer is spirally applied on the base shell, where the welding layer has a larger hardness than the base shell. The welding layer consists of a metal alloy weldable with the base shell, and is continuously enraged on the base shell by extended welds. The welding layer is formed by two welding piles, where a thickness of the respective welding piles averages approximately 3 millimeter. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a bending adjustment roller.</p>
