A storage medium partition setup method in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to enable a user to newly divide partitions of a storage medium in a desired way or to change partition size, thus effective management of user data for the storage medium of the receiver is conducted. When a storage medium partition setup command is inputted from a user, a partition setup screen of a storage medium is displayed(S700,S702). If a partition reset executional command is inputted from the user, it is checked whether the storage medium for setting partitions is currently operated(S704,S706). If so, a request for storage medium usage interruption is transmitted, and if the storage medium is not operated, the partitions are reset according to partition setup information(S708-S712).
