982,096. Automatic temperature control. SATCHWELL CONTROLS Ltd. July 18, 1963 [April 18, 1962], No. 14966/62. Heading G3R. Apparatus for controlling the temperature of an electric cooking oven 1 comprises an electric heater 2 connected to a power supply by way of a thermostatically operated switch 3 and a second switch 5 which is located outside the oven 1, the switch 5 being operated by a motor 9 which is controlled by a time operated switch 11. The duration of a cooking period is set by a timer means which retains the switch 11 open during the cooking period and the switch 5 then remains closed so that the energization of the heater 2 is controlled by the thermostatic switch 3 to maintain the oven temperature constant at the value set on the thermostat. At the end of the cooking period the timer means causes the switch 11 to close and adjusts the thermostat switch 3 to a lower temperature setting. Closure of the switch 11 causes the motor 9 to run which causes the switch 5 to be opened and closed in a cyclic manner. Thus after the end of the cooking period the heater 2 remains energized but at a reduced value.
|
