A rear side monitoring system for a vehicle is provided to reduce installation cost of the system by reducing the numbers of monitors and to control units by displaying an image photographed by two rear cameras with one monitor. A rear side monitoring system for a vehicle includes a rear camera(1) for rearward movement, a rear camera(2) for forward movement, a monitor(5), a control section(10), and a forward and rearward movement detection section(3). The rear camera for rearward movement photographs a portion adjacent to the rear side of the vehicle. The rear camera for forward movement photographs the remote distance of the rear side of the vehicle. The monitor displays an image. The control section allows the photographed image to be displayed on the monitor. The forward and rearward movement detection section detects the forward movement and the rearward movement of the vehicle. A signal of the forward and rearward movement detection section is input to the control section.
