A method and an apparatus for controlling a street lamp using a mobile communication network are provided to prevent an accident and monitor a state of the street lamp in real time by promptly taking action according to error generation of the street lamp. A microprocessor(310) adjusts brightness of a street lamp by adjusting a power quantity provided to the street lamp according to a movement of an object and on/off of a street lamp group having a plurality of street lamps. The microprocessor(310) transmits a status of the street lamp to a manager terminal periodically. The microprocessor(310) transmits an error message to the manager terminal in case an error of the street lamp is checked. An RF signal processing unit(320) receives and transmits a periodical status message and the error message of the street lamp generated in the microprocessor(310) to the manager terminal through an RF antenna. First and second movable body detection sensors(332,334) detect whether a movable body passes the street lamp for an operation time of the street lamp. An outer port(330) is connected to the first and second movable body detection sensors(332,334), and transmits detection information of the movable body to the microprocessor(310). A power control unit(340) provides the power to operate the street lamp, and controls the power to adjust the brightness of the street lamp according to a command of the microprocessor(310). A current monitor unit(342) monitors the power quantity provided to the street lamp, and transmits a variable value of the power to the microprocessor(310). A timer(350) adjusts the brightness of the street lamp by lowering the power quantity of the street lamp automatically if a movement of the movable body is not detected for a predetermined time. |
