A broadcast reception apparatus and a signal reception control method thereof are provided to switch a current channel or a current external input mode to another channel where a signal is received or another external input mode, respectively, if a no-signal state happens even though a user does not correctly operate a remote controller or a key of an apparatus body. A tuner unit(210) selects a channel and receives a broadcasting signal via the selected channel. A determination unit(240) determines whether the broadcasting signal is received. An input unit(260) receives a key signal. When a control unit(250) receives a certain key signal via the input unit under the state that the broadcasting signal is not received, it recognizes the certain key signal as a channel switching key signal and controls the tuner to carry out channel switching.
