METHOD OF COMPOUNDING AN ULTRASOUND IMAGE USING A SPATIAL COMPOUNDING

A method of generating an ultrasound image using a spatial synthesis is provided to increase a resolution at a center region of a frame by spatially combining scan line groups to form the frame. A scan header(101) having a transducer array(113) illuminates beams at different angles in image fields. A T/R switch(102) transmits and receives ultrasound image to and from the array transducer. A transmitter(111) sequentially transmits beams according to an angle and a predetermined origin. A system controller(112) controls the transmitter and transmits a predetermined number, an energy, and a frequency of scan groups. A digital beamformer(103) forms a coherent digital echo sample. A gain controller(104) compensates for a gain of a received signal. A B-mode processor(105) receives ultrasound signals. A frame memory(106) stores N frame data. A compound controller(107) performs space synthesis process. A scan conversion(108) stores the data from a predetermined point of the scan line.
