An apparatus for clinching a cup on a cup holder is provided to stably maintain the cup without shaking even when external shaking is applied to the cup inside a vehicle by seizing an outer periphery of a center of the cup by a clinching arm. An apparatus for clinching a cup on a cup holder includes a compression spring(36), a pair of clinching arms(50), a tension spring(60), and a drive taper part(46) and a driven taper part. The compression spring is interposed between a lower surface of a base and an inner end of a cup support plate(40) to position the cup support plate toward the base when there is no cup on the cup support plate. The pair of clinching arms has one end hinged to a position in which the cup support plate is hinged to the base, and the other end surrounding an outer periphery of the cup. The tension spring has both ends connected to outside ends of the clinching arms. The drive taper part and the driven taper part project to a portion in which the cup support plate overlaps the clinching arm.
