#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves requesting broadcast of a message e.g. short message service message, by a requesting mobile subscriber (MS) located in a telecommunication network cell (C2). The message is broadcasted to the nearby target mobile subscribers, located in the cells (C1, C3, C4) in the neighborhood of the cell (C2), from the subscriber (MS). The target subscribers to which the message is broadcasted are selected by a mobile switching center (MSC) managing the cell of the subscriber (MS) and by a visited location register (VLR) associated to the center. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mobile switching center managing the cells of a telecommunication network (2) a visited location register associated to a mobile switching center. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for broadcasting message e.g. short message service (SMS) message and Bluetooth message, to the public over a telecommunication network (claimed) e.g. global system for mobile communication (GSM) network and universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS) network, by a stamp collector in a philately show in order to announce a future exhibition or to express the desire to meet other persons having a specialized stamp collection, by a movie theater owner who has some seats to be sold before the start of a show, and by a restaurateur who wants to make known his restaurant and the specialty of the day to the passers by during meal time. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method broadcasts the message directly through the mobile switching centre without passing again through a network management layer of an operator, thus permitting high-quality broadcast of the message. The mobile switching center knows naturally the precise topology of the network i.e. the distributions of the cells, base transceiver stations and base station centers, and easily knows, via its privileged connection to the visited location register, the place where the requesting mobile subscriber and other neighborhood mobile subscribers are located. The message can therefore be broadcasted in a restricted manner from the requesting mobile subscriber to the adjacent subscriber. The method does not require to spam a wide geographical area in order to be certain of touching the majority of the potentially interesting mobile subscribers in the neighborhood of the requesting mobile subscriber. The method allows the requesting mobile subscriber to remain the master of the cost generated by the broadcast of his message, and not risk a large invoicing for a message, shortly broadcasted, which he only wanted to see. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a schematic representation of a part of the architecture of a telecommunication network in which a short message service message broadcasting method is implemented.
