Provided is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which has a structure showing discharge characteristics suitable for a high-output power source, and shows high stability and productivity. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly including a cathode(1) having a cathode core material(22) and a cathode slurry layer(24) formed on both surfaces of the cathode core material, an anode(3) having an anode core material(23) and an anode slurry layer(25) formed on both surfaces of the anode core material, and a lithium ion-permeable separator for insulating the cathode from the anode, wherein the electrode assembly being formed by winding the cathode, the anode and the separator; and a non-aqueous electrolyte interposed between the cathode and the anode. At least one of the cathode and the anode has an exposed core portion(2C,2A) extended in parallel to the winding direction. The cathode or anode slurry layer has a weight gradient region and a constant weight region. In the weight gradient region, the amount of the slurry per unit area decreases toward the exposed core portion. The constant weight region is adjacent to the weight gradient region and has a constant amount of the slurry per unit area. The weight gradient region has a width corresponding to 0.2 times of the width of the slurry layer, and the average slurry density in the weight gradient region is 40-99% based on the slurry density in the constant weight region. |
