APPARATUS FOR COMMUNICATING DATA IN MOBILE TERMINAL BY USING DATA COMMUNICATION CABLE AND METHOD THEREFOR

A data communication apparatus and a method of a mobile terminal using a data communication cable are provided to enable a user to directly transmit and output a photo file stored in a mobile terminal while downloading MP3 music file to the mobile terminal by including an additional connector for a data transmission. An SD(Secure Digital) socket(11) is interfaced with an external terminal through a data communication cable. A parallel communication unit(12) processes data transmitted/received through the SD socket(11) in a parallel manner. A serial communication unit(13) processes data transmitted/received through the SD socket(11) in a serial manner. A path selecting unit(14) selects a data path by selectively switching one of the parallel communication unit(12) and the serial communication unit(13) by a control signal according to a communication method of the external terminal. A signal conversion unit(15) converts an analog signal of output data of the path selecting unit(14) into a digital signal, converts a digital signal of data transmitted to the path selecting unit(14) into an analog signal, and outputs them. A controller(16) outputs the control signal to vary a data processing path and controls a general operation according to a data communication mode. A memory(17) stores data transmitted/received in the data communication mode.
