A software download method is provided to download software in a packet transmitted in a radio frequency scheme without a special sequence, thereby smoothly and quickly downloading or upgrading the software required for a video device. A software download method comprises the following steps. Software to be inputted to a video device is divided into multiple ROM(Read Only Memory) files, and all packets to be transmitted include a model name and a model version along with the ROM files(S11~S13). A transmission stream including the packets is up-converted into radio frequency and transmitted(S16). The video device receives the transmitted packets through the radio frequency and writes the ROM files included in the transmitted packets in its memory on the basis of the model name and the model version.
