DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING STEM CELLS IN A BODY BY USING MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGES

A method and an apparatus for detecting a stem cell in a body by using magnetic resonance images are provided to accurately detect a position of the stem cell by compensating for an error of the MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) image using a registration process. An apparatus for detecting a stem cell in a body includes an MRI image detector(11) and a controller(12). The MRI image detector repeatedly generates an image of the body, to which at least one stem cell is injected. The stem cell is coupled with a contrast media. The controller detects common components of unit pixels in the MRI image, which is outputted from the MRI image detector, calculates differences between the common components and the unit pixel values, and determines a position and a moving path of the stem cell based on the calculated differences. A memory(14) stores the MRI image, the common components of the unit pixels, and the unit pixel values.
