A mobile terminal with a jog dial is provided to remove the user inconvenience of taking a mobile terminal out of the pocket or the bag and manipulating a button to shift to the front/rear part of multimedia contents while the contents are being reproduced. A jog dial(20) is rotatably disposed at one surface of a main body(10) of a mobile terminal. A motion sensor(60) senses a rotation direction of the jog dial. A function determining unit(70) determines a rotation direction of the jog dial sensed by the motion sensor(60). A controller(80) controls to determine an execution direction of a particular mode according to determining of the function determining unit(70).
