A liquid crystal display device and a fabricating method thereof are provided to repair spots to be blackened by blocking the spots by light shield layers in a black state and colored like corresponding pixels by PL layers in a white state. A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates(100,110) facing each other, gate and data lines intersecting each other to define pixel areas on the first substrate, a black matrix layer(111) formed on any other areas of the second substrate that positions corresponding to the pixel areas of the first substrate, color filter layers(112) formed on the second substrate including the positions corresponding to the pixel areas, and a liquid crystal layer(125) implanted between the first and second substrates. Micro holes(120) are formed on a rear surface of the second substrate at areas where impurities(130) remain between the first and second substrates. Light shield layers(121) are formed on bottoms of the micro holes by a first thickness. PL(Photo-luminescence) layers(122) are formed on the light shield layers in the micro holes by a second thickness. |
