Provided is a tungsten carbide catalyst for a fuel cell, which has excellent electrochemical activity and excellent poisoning resistance against carbon monooxide, and shows a high surface area to allow good dispersion of a metal active ingredient. The tungsten carbide catalyst comprises tungsten carbide crystal particles and has a surface area of 100 m^2/g to 500 m^2/g. The tungsten carbide catalyst has an average particle diameter of 0.01-100 micrometers. In the tungsten carbide catalyst, the tungsten carbide crystal particles are connected with each other via carbon and have a chemical formula of WC, W2C, WC1-x or WO3, wherein x is a real number ranging from 0-1. |
