A thrust ball bearing of a hermetic compressor is provided to reduce resistance of balls and improve efficiency of the hermetic compressor by forming a ball guide projected in a retainer. A thrust ball bearing of a hermetic compressor comprises a frame having a hollow part; a rotary shaft rotatably installed at the hollow part; an eccentric part arranged to be eccentrically rotated at the rotary shaft; a piston linearly moved by rotation of the eccentric part; a cylinder placed on the upper end of one side of the frame to allow the piston to compress refrigerant; a bearing installing groove arranged on the upper end of the hollow part; and a thrust ball bearing installed at the bearing installing groove. The thrust ball bearing has upper and lower rings, plural balls(51) contacted to the upper and lower rings, and a retainer(54) non-contacted with the upper and lower rings to uniformly keep the interval of the balls.
