#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves recording transversal theoretical profile of the track at one of crosspieces and at an interval between the crosspieces. A path is traveled by taking transversal images of the path at frequency higher than double of the frequency of the crosspieces. The images are analyzed to obtain a real profile. A reference profile is associated and compared to the real profile. A difference signal is formed, where the signal represents each transversal zone, excess or default of the ballast with respect to the reference profile. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for an equipment for detection of railway track profile by implementation of a railway track profile detecting method. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for detecting railway track profile formed of rails fixed to crosspiece installed in ballast (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method offers precise information of state of ballast to evaluate ballast necessary for ballast maintenance work and to facilitate and improve track renovation work by better evaluation of need of ballast at all places of examined path. The method permits to detect the railway track as rapid as possible to benefit the daily non usage period of the track to carryout the detection. The difference signal represents each transversal zone, the excess or default of the ballast with respect to the reference profile in a precise manner. The method permits to obtain given frequency signal even if the signal is encumbered of noise due to deterioration of ballast surface in the environment of the crosspiece.
