A flat fluorescent lamp is provided to fix plural barrier ribs at concavo-convex portions, which are formed on a rear substrate, at regular intervals, thereby uniformly forming plural discharge channels and thus improving discharge uniformity of the lamp. A flat fluorescent lamp includes a front substrate(21), a rear substrate disposed opposite to the front substrate, a side wall adhered to the front and rear substrates and having a concavo-convex portion(40) defining a discharge space, and plural barrier ribs(24) defining the discharge space into plural discharge channels. The barrier ribs are capable of being inserted in the concave-convex portion.
