A liquid crystal display is provided to prevent generation of horizontal stripes due to a difference in resistance values according to formation positions of gate lines, thereby improving the quality of images. A gate driving IC(Integrated Circuit) generates gate signals. A plurality of gate lines(210,310) transmit the gate signals generated from the gate driving IC, having open parts(230,330). A plurality of data lines(220,320) cross the gate lines, making an overlap area with the open parts of the gate lines connected with a peripheral part of the gate driving IC larger than an overlap area with the open parts of the gate lines connected with a center part of the driving IC. Thin film transistors have gate electrodes connected with the gate lines, drain and source electrodes connected with the data lines. Pixel electrodes are electrically connected with the thin film transistors. |
