Provided is a fuel cell system having a power generation unit, which allows the amount of fuel in the power generation device to be controlled in a desired range by controlling the driving point of the fuel cell. The fuel cell system comprises: a fuel cell(20) for generating electric power in the presence of liquid fuel; a fuel cycling unit(30) for supplying the liquid fuel to the fuel cell and recovering the materials discharged from the fuel cell; and a fuel condition detection unit(12) disposed in the fuel cycling unit for detecting the condition of the fuel. The fuel condition detection unit allows detection of the volume or level of the liquid fuel. |
