An image processing apparatus, an image display apparatus and an image processing method are provided to carry a portion exceeding a gain variation threshold value to gain variation of the next frame and perform image processing of input image data based on modified gain variation, thereby preventing unnatural variation by the image processing in image quality. An image processing apparatus comprises the followings: an obtaining unit(21) for obtaining a luminance histogram for each image frame of an input image data; a gain-variation detecting unit for detecting gain variation showing an image processing level between the image frames on the basis of the obtained luminance histogram; a control unit(23) for limiting the gain variation in the image frame to a gain variation threshold value when the gain variation exceeds the gain variation threshold value; and an image processing unit(3) in which a portion exceeding the gain variation threshold value is carried over to gain variation of the next image frame, and which performs image processing on the input image data on the basis of modified gain variation. |
