An adaptive DC offset compensation apparatus and a method thereof are provided to control a distortion state which occurs due to excessive compensation of DC offset. An adaptive DC offset compensation apparatus comprises an offset detection part(211), an offset compensation part(212), and an offset compensation amplification part(213). The offset detection part(211), composed of a comparator(302) and a low pass filter(301), detects DC offset from the output signal of a variable gain amplifier(204). The offset compensation part(212), operated on the basis of the output signal of the offset detection part(211), comprises a counter part(311), a control part(312), and a register part(313). The offset compensation amplification part(213) is controlled according to output signals of the offset compensation part(212).
