<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device having a light emitting layer including a substrate and electroluminescent substance. <P>SOLUTION: In the light emitting device, the above-mentioned light emitting layer (p-n junction) is sandwiched between a p-type cladding layer having p electrode layer and an n-type cladding layer having in electrode layer. In the light emitting device, an optical control unit is covered on the light ejection surface; this optical control unit includes at least one optical tunneling layer; and a refractive index of this optical tunneling layer, in a relation with a wavelength of main emitting light from the light emitting layer, has a refractive index lower than those of substrate, cladding layer and electrode layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
