<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive lithographic printing plate material having good coatability and high sensitivity to image formation, and a plate making method for the same. <P>SOLUTION: The photosensitive lithographic printing plate material has on a support a photosensitive layer containing a photopolymerization initiator, a polymer binder, an addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated bond-containing compound, a color material having absorption in the wavelength range of 700-1,300 nm, and a chain transfer agent, wherein the photopolymerization initiator is a dimer of hexaarylimidazole and has a melting point in the range of 100-180°C.
