PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which waste ink can be prevented from leaking into a printer even if replacement processing of an ink cartridge receiving waste ink from a waste ink supply pump is started during operation of the waste ink supply pump. SOLUTION: In the printer 1, a waste ink introduction component 61 in a cartridge attaching section 15 having a waste ink introduction needle 51 connected with an ink cartridge 17 moves integrally with the ink cartridge 17 between a cartridge replacing position and a cartridge use position under a state where the waste ink introduction needle 51 is connected with the waste ink inlet 48 of the ink cartridge 17.
