PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small lens drive device, and a cellular phone with a camera. SOLUTION: The lens drive device 1 includes: a movable lens barrel 10 having a lens 12; a drive mechanism that moves the movable lens barrel in the direction of the optical axis of the lens; a quadrangular fixed holder 20 accommodating the movable lens barrel 10 and drive mechanism; and an elastic member 19 having a meandering shape formed from straight segments and curved segments, connecting the movable lens barrel 10 and fixed holder 20, and holding the movable lens barrel. The drive mechanism has a magnetic circuit including a coil 14, a yoke 15 and a magnet 18. The magnetic circuit is disposed parallel to one of opposite sides of the fixed holder.
