PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer image receiving material for obtaining an image with a high density, a high sensitivity and good fixing properties, a thermal transfer recording material, a thermal transfer recording method using the thermal transfer recording material, and a metal-containing compound for thermal transfer recording.

SOLUTION: The thermal transfer recording material is characterized in that at least one metal-containing compound obtained by reacting a compound expressed by general formula (1) with a bivalent metal salt is incorporated. In this formula, R1and R2are each an alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group, R3is a group expressed by general formula (2) or (3).
