<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair reducing a burden applied on the body by appropriately pushing the lumbar part, even if a person sits on the edge thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A seat 4 is attached to an intermediate member 3 via a parallel link mechanism so as to slide backward when the person sits thereon. When the person sits thereon, a lumbar support part 6a of the backrest 6 moves forward via links 15, 26, 28 and 29. Even if the person sits on the edge thereof, the lumbar support part 6a moves forward greatly, so that the person can perform work in a stable posture.
