PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for vehicle capable of controlling behavior of an own vehicle based on the presence of an obstacle around another vehicle. SOLUTION: This control device comprises shift information detection means (steps S11 and S12) detecting shift information of the automatic transmission of the other vehicle by an external information detection device; and behavior control means (steps S13-S15) determining, upon detection of manual shift-down of the automatic transmission of the other vehicle, whether a predetermined vehicular distance can be maintained by shifting down the gear of the automatic transmission of the own vehicle to the same gear as that of the automatic transmission of the other vehicle or not, shifting down the gear of the automatic transmission of the own vehicle to the same gear as that of the transmission of the automatic transmission of the other vehicle when determined affirmatively, and alarming deceleration of the other vehicle to the driver of the own vehicle, determined negatively, in addition to shift-down of the gear of the automatic transmission of the own vehicle to a gear higher by one than the gear of the automatic transmission of the other vehicle.
