PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change data transmission cycle corresponding to change in state of a wireless communication device, or to requested condition for data collection cycle from a wireless base station or user. SOLUTION: In a wireless communication device 1, a battery remaining capacity detecting circuit 17 detects the remaining capacity of a battery. If the remaining capacity of the battery is a threshold or less, it changes data transmission cycle of a wireless transmission/reception circuit 14. In particular, if data of high level of significance to be transmitted are present, data transmission cycle is shortened. Meanwhile, to extend driving hours by preserving remaining capacity of the battery, the data transmission cycle is extended. The wireless base station detects that the remaining capacity of a battery has fallen to a threshold or less if a data reception cycle changes (=data transmission cycle) from the wireless communication device 1.
