PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computing technology with high computational efficiency in the generation of a dither matrix. SOLUTION: A method for generating the dither matrix is provided. This method includes a step of setting an evaluation function; a provision step of providing the dither matrix as an initial state; and a storage element fixing step of sequentially fixing elements to be stored from a threshold with a smaller value, while transposing a part of a plurality of thresholds stored in the elements and thresholds stored in other elements. The storage element fixing step is characterized to include a fixing step of fixing the element for storing evaluation threshold, having the smallest value among the thresholds, whose elements to be stored have not been determined according to the conformity of an evaluation value to a predetermined criterion; and mutually transposing the part of the thresholds whose elements to be stored have not been fixed among the plurality of thresholds.
