Each of the upper and lower static inverter valves comprising a phase module has a two-pole subsystem comprised of four semiconductor switches (21,23,25,27), four diodes (22,24,26,28), two unipolar storage capacitors (22,24) and electronics (32). Interconnect points are formed between each adjoining pair of semiconductor switches for the connecting terminals (X1,X2) of the two-pole subsystem and the connection to the reference potential connection (m) of electronics through a node between the capacitors.
