A data receiving apparatus comprises a bit phase synchronizing circuit (10) that performs a phase adjustment of a received data signal to establish a predetermined phase relationship between the data signal and a clock signal corresponding thereto; and a state detecting circuit (20) that outputs a detection signal when detecting, based on the phase-adjusted data signal and the corresponding clock signal, a stable state of the data signal as inputted to the bit phase synchronizing circuit (10). When receiving the detection signal, the bit phase synchronizing circuit (10) initializes the phase adjustment of the data signal.
