摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve highly accurate focusing by appropriately selecting a focus detection viewing field, used to generate focus detection information used for focusing from a plurality of focus detection viewing fields. SOLUTION: The focus detecting device 20 includes a sensor 17 having a plurality of pairs of light receiving parts L1A to L21B corresponding to the plurality of focusing view fields L1 to L21, and used for photo-electrically converting a pair of object images formed on each pair of light receiving parts; and a computing means 40 by which the focus detection information used for focusing is generated on the basis of a signal from one pair of light receiving parts corresponding to a specific focus detection viewing field among the plurality of focus detection viewing fields. For each of the focusing detecting view fields, the computing means computes an evaluation value using at least three parameters out of the degree of matching of each pair of object images, the number of edges of each object image, sharpness of the object image, and the darkness/brightness ratio of the object image.
