<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keyboard instrument having a keyboard unit which is easy to use to beginners. <P>SOLUTION: The keyboard instrument 100 is provided with a pedal mechanism 70 which can transpose sound by a half tone, and a keyboard unit which is operated by the pedal mechanism 70. The pedal mechanism 70 is provided with a damper pedal 71, a first pedal 72 which is provided on the undertone side (for example, on the left side) to the damper pedal 71 in the direction in which the keys 85 of a keyboard part 180 are arranged, and a second pedal 73 which is provided on the high tone side (for example, on the right side) to the damper pedal 71 in the direction in which the keys 85 are arranged. When the first pedal 72 is trodden, a wire 75 is pulled in the arrow direction B, and the keyboard unit moves by a half tone in the left direction C.
