<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control chromaticity and brightness in a favorable balance according to the use environment of a display device in a liquid crystal display device having a color filter. <P>SOLUTION: A filter disposed corresponding to dots has a plurality of colored layer dots and a plurality of uncolored layer dots in one unit pixel 40. That is, one unit pixel 40 comprises six dots in which one uncolored layer dot 37 is disposed to each of three dots of red 36a, green 36b and blue 36c having colored layers. In a bright environment, the uncolored dots are rendered into a light-shielding state and only the colored layer dots are used for display. This decreases transmittance but does not decrease brightness so much. In a dark environment, the uncolored dots are together used for display. This increases the transmittance of the display medium and exhibits a display with low chromaticity and faint colors because of mixing of light not transmitting the colored layers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
